MicroHealth exhibition at UvA Open Science Day: a grand success

Oct 5, 2024

MicroHealth was exhibited today at the UvA Wetenschapsdag (Open Science Day) to grand success! Our stand was a two-piece exhibition: the first part was a lab area - staffed by Michelle Zwart, Lemeng Dong, Sjors Huizinga and Kathrin Wippel - with aeroponics and microscopes, for people to have a look at plant roots, bacteria, and fungi on petri dishes. The second part was a gaming area - staffed by Julian Voet and Saskia ter Horst - where the microbiome-themed VR-game was exhibited. Here, people could try out the short beta version of our VR-game. Both parts of the exhibition were widely visited. Our representers and volunteers were constantly active, but with a lot of science communication about MicroHealth as a result.

The UvA Wetenschapsdag is an annual event on a Saturday around the start of October - coinciding with the "Week van de Wetenschap" (Week of Science). All people between the ages of 6 and 106 with an interest in science can attend - for free! - to check out the many exhibitions from various departments at Science Park and take a tour around the campus. This event is mostly targeted towards children, who form the majority of the people attending this event.
